Chennai District Fencing Association

Chennai District Fencing Association was formed in the year 1991 and affiliated to Tamilnadu Fencing Association. Chennai District Fencing Association had participated in all the National U/10, U/12, sun-junior, Cadets, Juniors, Youth and Senior championships organized by the Tamilnadu fencing Association. We are glad to convey that players from CDFA bagged many medals and brought pride to the Association.

About Founder:

Mr P.Viswanathan is the founder of Tamilnadu Fencing Association in the year 1987. He was also a former Indian Olympic Association member. He was the primary person to develop the fencing through out Tamilnadu. Fencing is an expensive sport. In the early stages of development he used to contribute more from his own pocket and make weapons and sword by himself in an affordable manner. Even at the age of 72 years, he is still contributing in the development of the fencing. He coached many players who won gold medals in national games and International championships(C A Bhavani who qualified for Tokoyo Olympics 2020 is one among them). He also groomed many coaches and technical officials through out Tamilnadu.

He not only contributed in Fencing but also he was the founder of Gymnastic Association of Tamilnadu. His interest in sports from his childhood attracted him to contribute to the sports development.
